The smile had not yet completely faded from Wen Jiu’s face when she noticed that both women were staring at her and asked in confusion, “What is it?”
Yu Keyan answered on behalf of both herself and Shen Mengxia. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Is this what it’s like to have a husband? Honestly, how can you be so cruel to us single people?”
Shen Mengxia could not help laughing, but still corrected her. “I agree with the first half, but the second half doesn’t apply to me. I’m not single.” She glanced at Yu Keyan again, as if to say, “Only you are.”
Yu Keyan looked deeply wounded. This was also when she learned that Shen Mengxia was seeing someone, though come to think of it, it was hardly surprising.
Alas, she really was the only one who had remained single all along.
With a miserable expression, she complained about the two of them and even demanded that they introduce someone to her as well.
The other two could only laugh and nod repeatedly.
Yet Yu Keyan knew her own personality well. Her outlook on love was particularly pessimistic, and even if she met a man who truly moved her heart, it would be difficult for anything to come of it. After several failed relationships, she had also developed a certain fear of love.
She thought she would not be entering a relationship anytime soon.
After dinner, Ye Chen met Shen Mengxia at the restaurant entrance, while Wen Jiu drove Yu Keyan home.
Along the way, the atmosphere between the two women was more harmonious than ever before.
Yu Keyan hesitated for a while, but in the end, she still apologized to Wen Jiu.

Yu Keyan’s apology was sincere, and Wen Jiu understood what she was thinking now. Naturally, she believed her words.
Wen Jiu smiled indifferently. “It’s all in the past. I’ve already forgotten about what happened before.”
Hearing her response, Yu Keyan smiled shyly. She knew that Wen Jiu’s words meant she had forgiven her.
She also secretly resolved to change her personality.
Before Yu Keyan got out of the car, Wen Jiu called after her. “Would you like to be one of my bridesmaids?”
Yu Keyan’s eyes lit up at once. “Of course!”
After saying goodbye, Wen Jiu drove home alone.
Gu Zehuai had offered to pick Wen Jiu up, but she had declined, thinking it would be more convenient to drive herself home.
Once she returned, Wen Jiu contacted several close university friends and invited them to be her bridesmaids. She also emailed the internationally renowned designer who had once assessed her, inviting her to attend the wedding.
They had remained in contact throughout the past year. Whenever Wen Jiu encountered a problem, she would humbly ask for advice, and the designer would patiently guide her.
In their daily lives, they also shared glimpses of their routines with each other. It could be said that they were both mentor and friend.
The designer had even offered her sincere congratulations in the comments beneath Wen Jiu’s posts, so Wen Jiu wanted to invite her to witness her happiness.

The two of them settled on a wedding date in early November. Once the date was confirmed, they began preparing invitations for their relatives and friends.
The Gu family had numerous businesses and many commercial partners, but they did not treat the wedding as a social opportunity. Instead, they left all the arrangements and decisions entirely to Gu Zehuai and Wen Jiu.
——
The day before the wedding arrived soon enough.
Wen Jiu rarely felt nervous, but this time was different. Shen Mengxia and Yu Keyan stayed with her.
Wen Jiu was so excited that she could not sleep at all. Remembering her elders’ warning that the bride and groom were not supposed to see each other before the wedding, she resisted the urge to call Gu Zehuai. Thus, the three women shared a bed and chatted for nearly the entire night.
A little after four in the morning, Wen Jiu was dragged out of bed to wash up and have her makeup done.
Fortunately, her dark circles were not too noticeable and were easily concealed, making the makeup process much simpler.
Wen Jiu’s mother also came to her room and gazed at her with reluctance.
In the blink of an eye, her daughter had reached the age to be married. Yet in her memories, Wen Jiu was still a tiny little girl who loved following behind her, calling her “Mom.”
