Chapter 133: A Heart Torn to Pieces
The group didn’t part ways until the early hours, each returning to their own home.
They all came out of the second-floor private room, chatting and laughing. Lin Youqi, walking at the front, paused for a moment when he saw someone emerging from a nearby room.
That person had clearly spotted them as well.
His gaze immediately searched for someone in particular—and soon found him.
Gu Zehuai and Wen Jiu were holding hands tightly. Having drunk quite a bit, though not drunk, their cheeks were flushed as Gu Zehuai nestled closely against Wen Jiu, softly acting coy.
Wen Jiu looked helpless, having to deal with his playful teasing while also keeping him steady.
Noticing that Lin Youqi, Pei Yi, and Lin Lehan had suddenly fallen silent, Wen Jiu, puzzled, instinctively looked up.
Through the gap between the three standing men, Wen Jiu saw the person opposite them: Lu Qingli.
Lu Qingli’s eyes rested on the group silently, without a word or any movement.
Lin Youqi recovered and resumed walking forward with a composed expression.
Wen Jiu turned his attention back to Gu Zehuai. Behind them, Ye Chen and Shen Mengxia noticed but said nothing, continuing their conversation.
Lu Qingli turned and went back into the room, sitting on the sofa and lighting cigarette after cigarette.
The feelings of regret that had been gnawing at him suddenly took shape—he felt as if his heart was being cut with a knife.
Thinking of the happy scene he had just witnessed, Lu Qingli gave a bitter smile.
He no longer had the right to laugh and joke with them.

After finally coaxing Gu Zehuai to shower and get into bed on his own, Wen Jiu entered the bathroom.
When she finished, she saw Gu Zehuai had been lying on the bed for over an hour, still with eyes open, watching her.
Wen Jiu walked over and poked his cheek. “Are you drunk?”
“No, I’m waiting for my wife.”
Gu Zehuai pulled Wen Jiu onto the bed, making room and shifting inward.
“Jiu Jiu, look, I’ve already warmed the bed for you,” Gu Zehuai said, wagging his tail like a dog seeking praise.
Wen Jiu smiled, stroked his hair, and gently pressed a kiss on his lips.
Gu Zehuai seemed to have flipped some switch, holding Wen Jiu close and playfully wrestling with her.
In the end, Wen Jiu had to firmly order him to sleep before he finally stopped.

Arriving at the company, sharp-eyed colleagues immediately noticed the ring on Wen Jiu’s hand. Coupled with the Weibo posts they’d seen yesterday, everyone assumed she was the future boss’s fiancée and offered their congratulations.
Wen Jiu thanked each of them in turn.
That afternoon, Wen Jiu received a call from a delivery person, learning that Gu Zehuai had also ordered food for the employees at Jingyan, explaining it as a gesture of reciprocity.
Just as Wen Jiu was about to leave work, she received a message from Gu’s mother.
[Jiu Jiu, are you off work yet? Come home for dinner with Ah Huai tonight.]
After informing Gu Zehuai, Wen Jiu agreed.
After work, Gu Zehuai came to pick Wen Jiu up from the company. This time, instead of waiting outside the door like before, he walked boldly into the office.
The employees in the design department greeted him enthusiastically. Gu Zehuai nodded at each, and some of the braver ones cheered.
“President Gu is here to pick up his fiancée!”
Gu Zehuai glanced at them and smiled—wasn’t it obvious?
The employees all thanked Gu Zehuai, praising the afternoon tea.
Hearing the commotion, Wen Jiu stepped out of the office, smiled upon seeing Gu Zehuai, then returned to grab her bag, leaving with him.
Wen Jiu thought the teasing was a bit too public, but Gu Zehuai didn’t mind.
He was practically itching to announce Wen Jiu to the whole world.
Together, they drove back to the old Gu family estate.
