Chapter 110: A Narrow Encounter
(Thank you to Nightcold, the very first supporter of this book—I am deeply grateful!)
Upon seeing their plan fail, the opponent paid no heed to their companions' safety, swiftly darted aside, and brandished a phone, snapping photos of Alice and Wu Jue in rapid succession.
After the blinding flash, four or five bullets whizzed through the air. Wu Jue immediately dove beside Alice, seizing her hand and sprinting away.
“It seems these people intend to kill you to silence you,” Wu Jue said, pushing his legs to their limit as he wove through the crowd, making several sharp turns, nearly shaking off the murderous mother and son chasing them.
Unexpectedly, Alice suddenly yanked her arm free and vanished into the chaotic crowd.
Wu Jue halted, scanning left and right. The flash had attracted a swarm of the undead that surged forward, their intentions unknown.
Looking around, Alice had been pushed to the other side, while the killer duo remained trapped behind the human barrier, unable to approach.
Wu Jue wondered if Alice had deliberately let go, hoping to lose him.
He had no choice but to seek help from Tel and Xun’er. Fortunately, Tel had noticed the situation and floated over, saying, “I’ll chase after Alice. You go protect Xun’er.”
Each set off on their own mission. Wu Jue struggled through the crowd toward the stage where Xun’er had been, but upon arrival found it occupied by others—Xun’er was nowhere in sight.
Meowpu, surveying the area, saw Wu Jue and trotted over, leaping into his arms with concern. “She’s gone. What happened?”
Wu Jue was puzzled. “She was here just a moment ago. Could she have been taken? Meowpu, don’t wander off—stay with me.”
Obediently, Meowpu leapt onto Wu Jue’s back, and together they pressed on, searching the crowd for any sign of Xun’er.
After much effort, they reached the front where the crowd thinned. Wu Jue shaded his eyes and scanned around, relying on his unique senses to detect Xun’er’s presence.
Ahead, a group of young men danced street-style on the stage. Wu Jue glanced casually, noting their swift, talented movements.
Then, from the front of the stage, a figure approached slowly—a person wearing a white cap that obscured half their face, yet nodded subtly at Wu Jue.
There was a familiarity in the aura, a deadly intent that no ordinary person possessed.
Unexpectedly, the figure removed the cap, revealing a handsome face that looked down on Wu Jue haughtily, then glanced at the stage as if daring him to step up and compete.
Wu Jue immediately recognized him—the same assassin who had once communicated with him from a distance. They had agreed to meet here for a showdown; clearly, the challenge had come directly.
Seeing the aggressive stance, Wu Jue patted Meowpu on the shoulder, signaling him to continue searching for Alice, while he calmly approached the challenger.
The man replaced his cap, then gestured an invitation before leaping onto the stage.
Just as the young dancers finished their set and stepped down to switch out, the challenger smoothly showcased a lively performance.
Sliding to center stage, he pointed directly at Wu Jue below—a clear provocation.
The surrounding crowd erupted in cheers, urging Wu Jue to accept the challenge.
Wu Jue, intending to spar with the man, was nonetheless an unfamiliar figure in dance, especially street dance.
He leapt onto the stage and faced his opponent with a smile. “Please, go ahead.”
The challenger wasted no time, spinning a powerful windmill move, legs raised high as he twirled gracefully through several rotations, then flashed a polite gesture toward Wu Jue.
Wu Jue drew a sharp breath; these young dancers had many tricks.
But this was no real challenge for him. Closing his eyes briefly, he quickly reviewed the opponent’s movements in his mind, blending them with the lightness skills from Dalin Temple.
Suddenly, he executed a flawless somersault, planting his head on the ground, hands supporting as his body spun in a perfect circle.
His move was an even more impressive windmill, fiercer and cooler.
At first, the audience was unimpressed, but Wu Jue’s spinning accelerated, seamlessly integrating the dancer’s motions. Gathering his true energy at the crown of his head, he began bouncing rhythmically, leaping into the air and striking varied poses.
The crowd grew excited, murmuring.
“That style is unique—reminds me of those old monk movies.”
“Forget monks, this is way cooler.”
Encouraged by their praise, Wu Jue quickened his pace near the end of his routine. With a sudden burst, he thrust his hands down and launched himself into the air, soaring three or four meters high.
His legs unleashed a flurry of kicks midair, dazzling the crowd and shaking them with awe.
Wu Jue smiled at their delighted faces and, just before landing, flipped backward deftly and touched down lightly, completing a circular flourish that earned raucous applause.
The challenger, stunned but impressed, clapped and laughed, “Not bad. You’ve got some skill. Let’s go again!”
He then unleashed a series of complex dance moves, battling Wu Jue foot for foot.
Wu Jue mirrored him, blending Dalin Temple’s martial arts with dance, consistently gaining the upper hand and drawing continuous applause.
After three or four rounds, the challenger began to lose composure. He slid up to Wu Jue, waving his hands rapidly before suddenly grabbing Wu Jue’s collar with a provocative grin.
Wu Jue responded in kind, gripping the man’s wrist with a grappling technique, intent on subduing him.
The contest quickly escalated from dance to combat.
Wu Jue recognized the man’s style as Bajimen kung fu—long-reaching punches, using subtlety to overcome strength, a fellow practitioner.
He met every move, countering with Dalin Temple’s signature Vajra Palm, using yang to overcome yin.
“Using softness to conquer hardness—I want to see if you can really do it,” Wu Jue said, his bones honed beyond human limits as he unleashed his full strength, muscles bulging with superhuman power.
The opponent spun Wu Jue around a few times after grabbing his arm, but Wu Jue forcefully broke free, sending the man flying with two resounding smacks.
“Hey, no fighting! Someone stop this!” The crowd erupted into chaos as several rushed forward—whether to intervene or just drawn by the commotion, it was unclear.
Taking advantage of the disorder, Wu Jue lost sight of his opponent.
Sighing, he stepped off the stage and resumed searching for Xun’er and the others.
