Wujue and his companion had been riding for more than ten miles before they finally caught sight of the sign for City C.

In other words, their destination was at last within reach.

The two exchanged a glance; truth be told, the journey thus far had felt like a mental assault. One could hardly imagine the barrage of gossip the two women in the backseat had kept up; even someone of Xiao Yang’s intelligence was left speechless, not to mention Master Wujue, who prided himself on his serenity.

Now that they had finally arrived, Wujue and Xiao Yang stopped the vehicle. “Ladies, we’ve arrived. Isn’t it time for a break?”

Lily leapt from the car at once. “About time! My poor backside is nearly worn out from this ride. Next time, I swear I won’t take your car even if it kills me!”

Meimei followed, though she had no complaints. She simply asked Xiao Yang, “So, we’re parting ways here?”

Xiao Yang smiled. “Not necessarily. We’re here to find two friends. Let’s see how things go.”

They were about to go in and get the lay of the land, to see if anyone else had arrived. Judging by the outskirts, City C seemed to have escaped serious damage.

Just as they were about to dismount and move ahead, someone in the city cried out, “Look! The heroine is here again! Our savior is fighting the enemy—everyone, come cheer her on!”

A surge of applause, honking horns, and cheering broke out. People raced through the streets, calling out encouragement.

Wujue was stunned—what on earth was happening? Xiao Yang promptly activated his rocket pack, soaring into the sky for a look. He soon returned, astonished. “I saw her—it’s Princess An Yi. She’s fighting monsters from the Tianzhu Clan.”

So it was An Yi. To think she’d arrived here next—and it appeared she was beloved by all.

Wujue and Xiao Yang hurried into the city, stopping a nearby spectator to inquire. It turned out that An Yi had arrived a few days earlier. At that time, City C hadn’t yet fallen, but the monsters of the Tianzhu Clan would appear now and then to harass the people. An Yi had stepped up and beaten every last one of them to a pulp, ultimately becoming the city’s savior.

The mayor, leading by example, had awarded An Yi and made her the city’s “super-police,” tasked with defending against alien invaders.

Xiao Yang was impressed. “That mayor is truly courageous! To make such an exceptional appointment is rare in China. An Yi has found a kindred spirit.”

Wujue smiled, too. “Shouldn’t we lend a hand as well?”

They soon reached the site of the commotion. There, An Yi was locked in fierce combat with several mutated beasts. Though outnumbered, she displayed overwhelming power and was far from being at a disadvantage.

In just a short while, she had the monsters howling in pain. Xiao Yang sighed, “Look at our princess—she’s like a force of nature. Is she bullying these little monsters?”

A bystander chimed in, “Exactly! I always thought Ultraman was just make-believe. Turns out, true heroes walk among us!”

Wujue laughed, “Well then, let’s lend a hand.”

He floated forward, landing squarely on a monster that had been flung aside, and without another word, stomped it so deeply into the ground that it couldn’t climb out again.

Xiao Yang followed suit, seizing another creature that had been tossed aside. Hoisting it high, he called, “Got another one! Don’t worry, An Yi!”

An Yi was busy pummeling her opponent but, hearing their voices, her spirits soared and she fought with renewed vigor. She grabbed the tail of the monster before her, swung it around, and hurled it into the sky, sending it flying who knew where.

The spectacle delighted the crowd. Once they realized what was happening, they broke into thunderous applause. The last remaining beast, resembling Godzilla, panicked, running about wildly before crashing into a wall and knocking itself out.

An Yi immediately called to the citizens of City C, asking them to bring ropes so the monsters could be securely tied up and taken to the mayor for processing.

Wujue and Xiao Yang helped bind the creatures and escorted them to the city’s administrative hall, where a leader-like figure greeted them warmly. “Thank you for your efforts! You’ve caught several more monsters this time. Lock them all up—none must escape!”

He summoned heavily armed special police to escort the monsters to a special prison. The mayor then invited everyone into city hall for a brief rest.

Most of the citizens dispersed, satisfied by the spectacle. Wujue and Xiao Yang followed An Yi into the mayor’s office, where the mayor greeted them with enthusiasm. “So you’re friends of our great hero! Truly, we’re honored—please, have a seat!”

The two were taken aback by the mayor’s hospitality. Xiao Yang said, “Mr. Mayor, you’re far too kind. We’re just passing through and never expected such a warm welcome. We’re truly overwhelmed.”

The mayor waved his hand. “Nonsense—in times like these, we all know what’s at stake. The world’s in chaos. As officials, we’re helpless against invaders; only people like you can help us face these dangers.”

An Yi, slightly uncomfortable with such warmth, replied, “That’s enough, Mayor. My friends have just arrived—let’s help them find a place to stay first. Let’s leave it at that for today.”

The mayor nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes—make yourselves at home. Our city needs people like you more than ever. Please, help us keep City C safe!”

Wujue and Xiao Yang felt a twinge of awkwardness. Everywhere they had traveled, they’d seen chaos and collapse; City C, maintaining its order, was a rare exception.

Once their polite conversation with the mayor was finished, they left with An Yi. The three, reunited after their brief separation, exchanged stories.

An Yi asked what had happened to them recently and whether they’d encountered anyone else. Wujue recounted their meetings with Huron and Xiao Han, adding, “The Tianzhu Clan has become increasingly cunning—I worry they may try something at any moment. An Yi, you must be extra careful here.”

Xiao Yang agreed. “Indeed, Xiao Han’s disappearance is suspicious. I fear the Tianzhu Clan is plotting something new against us. By the way, where will we be staying?”

An Yi led the way with a smile. “The mayor has set aside a building for guests—especially heroes like you. Rest assured, I’ll be staying in the same building as well.”

Wujue nodded. “That’s good. I have two friends with me—if possible, could you arrange to put them up as well?”

Xiao Yang, tablet in hand as he scanned the network, grinned. “Speak of the devil—your favorite companions have just arrived.”

Ahead, Meimei and Lily approached with excitement. “There you are! This place is great. Did you know about it all along?”

Wujue scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed, as he introduced them to Princess An Yi. “These are friends we met on the road—the sisters Meimei and Lily.”

At that, Lily, dressed in a maid outfit that showed off her shapely legs, looked particularly striking. Princess An Yi couldn’t help but smile. Noticing Lily’s blush, she said, “So you’re friends of theirs? Are you the little maid from the old castle?”

She burst out laughing.

“Well, it’s a good start,” Lily replied, lifting her chin and staring at An Yi with defiance. “I was just planning to get along with everyone here, so don’t provoke my fighting spirit.”

“Is that so?” An Yi took a step closer, tossing her hair with a rare smile. “Then we should really get to know each other, don’t you think?”

She turned to Wujue and Xiao Yang, but the two defeated men had already agreed to go get a beer together.
