Chapter Fifty-Eight: BARATL!
Page 1/3
The sunlight sparkled brilliantly across the sea, and the occasional breeze stirred the water, casting ripples of waves. Kamiel and Robin hovered in midair, gazing down at the “Baratie,” the floating restaurant swaying gently with the wind.
A few days prior, Kamiel had calculated the timing and learned that Luffy had already set sail, so he brought Robin along, while Ice Phoenix and Hancock stayed on the island to continue their training. Kamiel merely said he was taking Robin out for a while, and neither Ice Phoenix nor Hancock questioned it further.
Kamiel felt a surge of excitement—since arriving in the East Blue, his heart had been trembling with anticipation. He was thrilled at the prospect of meeting the Straw Hat crew. Robin beside him was no less eager.
“Hehe, let’s go down and see how skilled the chef with the straw hat really is,” Robin whispered with a smile.
Kamiel nodded slightly, took Robin’s hand, and flew down. Pushing open the door, they entered a restaurant that wasn’t large; a dozen tables were neatly arranged around the space. By now, it was quite full, with hardly any vacant seats.
They exchanged a smile and walked toward an empty spot by the window. Soon after sitting down, a young man in a tight-fitting suit, his blond hair parted impeccably, approached with a menu in hand.
“Gentlemen, what would you like?” Sanji asked, his tone polite and gentlemanly. He had noticed Kamiel and Robin as soon as they entered and watched them select their seats before approaching.
As he drew closer, he noticed two famous swords resting by the table. Though Sanji wasn’t a swordsman, his keen strength allowed him to sense the intense aura of killing intent emanating from them. Clearly, these two were not ordinary guests. He suppressed his urge to flirt with the dark-haired beauty and addressed Kamiel instead.
Kamiel looked at Sanji, smiled with a gentleman’s air, and said, “Hand the menu to my beloved. Isn’t it proper for a woman to choose the meal, and the man to pay? Don’t you agree, young man?”
Sanji gave an awkward smile, neither affirming nor denying, and handed the menu to Robin. Robin ordered a few dishes and requested two bottles of red wine.
Soon, their food and wine arrived. Sanji politely told them to call him if they needed anything, then left to busy himself. Watching the young man walk away with one hand in his pocket, Kamiel and Robin exchanged another smile, finding Sanji quite likable.
Kamiel’s assessment of Sanji was clear: this fellow was a gentleman, but also a bit of a rogue. Yet, he was someone you’d entrust your back to in dangerous times—a truly excellent companion, and not least, an outstanding chef of the sea.
Kamiel and Robin quietly discussed Sanji as they waited for their destined encounter.

Several bottles of wine had already been consumed, though not much food. Sanji kept returning to bring more wine, unconcerned about whether the pair could pay their bill. After more than an hour, they still hadn’t finished their meal, which puzzled him, but he didn’t ask. Even if he couldn’t flirt, there were beautiful women to admire—still a pleasure.
Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed from outside—the sound of cannon fire. Kamiel and Robin’s eyes gleamed; they knew the moment had come.
Soon, a naval lieutenant led a golden-haired woman inside, seating themselves not far behind Kamiel. After ordering, the naval officer began critiquing the wine, clearly trying to impress the woman. Kamiel and Robin watched the scene unfold with amused smiles.
After Sanji had thoroughly humiliated the naval officer, he grabbed him by the neck and uttered a phrase famous across the seas. Zoro and the others, who had come to find Luffy at the door, watched curiously, as if gleaning some insight from the event.
“Never waste food. To oppose a chef at sea is to court death. Remember this well,” Sanji said, his tone grave.
Kamiel and Robin nodded approvingly at Sanji’s words.
At that moment, several other chefs approached, trying to restrain Sanji, who had tossed the naval officer to the floor. The officer, undeterred, began threatening to destroy the restaurant. Enraged, Sanji was about to attack him, but the chefs held him back.
Then, our protagonist Luffy finally appeared—falling from the ceiling—alongside the head chef, the one-legged old man with his braided mustache. After a series of events mirroring the original story, Sanji went to prepare food for a member of the “Don Krieg Pirates,” and Luffy followed him.
Outside, Luffy and Sanji began their first real interaction.
Soon, they returned, and Zoro and the others searched for seats. After much debate about the cost, they finally had their meal.
Eventually, Zoro and his companions returned to their ship to rest, while Luffy stayed behind to help out.
Kamiel inquired about lodging and decided to stay. Though accommodations were limited, they sufficed.
Four days later, Kamiel finally witnessed the arrival of the “Don Krieg Pirates.”
Kamiel and Robin sat in a corner, watching the events unfold with a smile—Sanji’s perspective as a chef, Zoro’s thirst for battle, Usopp’s timidity, and Luffy’s fiery spirit. Of course, the final battle had not yet begun.
When Gin described their defeat in harrowing detail—one man standing against a fleet of fifty pirate ships—everyone was shocked and filled with fear. Luffy, however, just smiled in surprise, and Zoro was deeply affected. He already knew this man was his goal: he must defeat him and prove his efforts to that girl—the Seven Warlords’ Hawk Eyes Mihawk.

Soon, Kamiel smiled softly—he had arrived. It was time to test his strength.
Outside, as the pirate ship prepared to sink the floating restaurant, it suddenly split into several pieces. Everyone stared, stunned at the wreckage, unable to comprehend what had happened.
Meanwhile, Nami had already commandeered the Merry.
Kamiel and Robin exited, standing not far from Luffy.
And at last, that man appeared. Everyone turned, astonished. Luffy asked Zoro who he was, and Zoro, trembling, replied.
“Haha, Robin, Hawk Eyes’ coffin ship is quite the spectacle!” Kamiel laughed heartily from behind Luffy. Robin smiled in silence.
Hearing Kamiel’s words, Zoro looked over in shock. He had already noticed Kamiel and Robin several times here, and Kamiel’s comment suggested he didn’t regard Hawk Eyes highly.
Kamiel met Zoro’s gaze with a slight nod, and Zoro strode toward Hawk Eyes.
Hawk Eyes sat cross-legged on his ship, utterly unaware of Kamiel’s presence, while Zoro issued his challenge.
After a brief exchange of words full of bravado, Hawk Eyes used his tiny blade to defeat Zoro with ease.
