Chapter One: Entering the World of the Pirate King

“Captain, Captain, look! There’s a boat in the water with a child on it!” A red-haired boy wearing a yellow straw hat shouted as he ran toward his captain.
“What is it, Shanks? Where?” The man he addressed was a swarthy middle-aged giant, two tufts of mustache curling beneath his nose. He exuded an air of authority, though he looked a little weary.
“Captain, over there.” The red-haired boy—Shanks—pointed toward the nearby water.
The crew aboard the pirate ship, the Golden Jason, all turned to look. Not far away, there was a battered little boat, and lying on it was a child who looked to be only five or six years old.
“Rayleigh, go bring that child aboard. Who’d have thought, almost home and still rescuing a kid,” Gol D. Roger laughed heartily.
At that moment, a burly dark-skinned man at Rayleigh’s side vanished in a flash, and almost instantly appeared on the little boat carrying the child. Rayleigh, known as the Dark King, studied the boy—a shock of purple hair, ragged clothes hanging off his small frame, giving him a pitiful appearance. Lifting the child in his arms, Rayleigh returned to the ship with a light leap.
“Old Man Flora, hurry over and check on the child,” Rayleigh called out.
The curious crew crowded around as an elderly man, whose head appeared to be bedecked with flowers, rushed over.
Shanks and a boy with a clownish face joined the crowd.
The child was strikingly cute, with unruly purple hair and tattered clothes that, despite their state, still showed traces of former luxury.
Old Man Flora examined the boy and said, “Roger, the kid’s fine—probably just passed out from hunger or thirst.”
“Shanks, I’ll leave him to you, haha! Give him some water, see if he wakes up,” Gol D. Roger roared with laughter as he left the deck.
“What, you want me to take care of him? Seriously?” Shanks grumbled, but nonetheless scooped up the child and carried him toward the cabin, the others bursting into laughter behind him...
Liu Feng slowly opened his eyes, glanced around, and felt a faint rocking beneath and all around him—he was on a ship, that much was clear. He lifted his hand and checked the ring on his finger; it was still there. He breathed a sigh of relief and muttered, “This thing’s a treasure—I can’t lose it.”
Looking around again, he realized he was on a ship, but didn’t know if it was a pirate ship or something else. He closed his eyes, memories of his past life flickering through his mind...
Liu Feng had been an orphan. Years ago, both his parents had died in a car accident. He’d lived alone, relying on their savings to get through college, then struggled to find a job after graduating. Fate had not been kind; work was scarce, and with so many graduates—especially given he hadn’t come from a top university, just a second-tier one—it was difficult to stand out.

That day, Liu Feng was walking down the street, muttering, “Jobs, jobs—why is it so hard to find work?”
Just then, a shifty-looking man in his thirties rushed past. Liu Feng didn’t see him coming, turned a corner, and tripped the man, sending them both sprawling. Liu Feng hit his head, drawing blood, and as he scrambled up, he reflexively kicked out, connecting with something behind him. There was a crackling sound of something breaking, but Liu Feng paid it no mind.
He cursed, “Damn it, watch where you’re going! Why are you running—” He hadn’t finished when a shot rang out, cutting him off. He collapsed, panic rising in his heart: Damn, I get shot just for kicking a stranger? What rotten luck! I’m still a virgin—hope I’m less unlucky in my next life…
As he fell, he thought he glimpsed several men in suits and sunglasses converging on the scene.
Coming to, Liu Feng found himself in a sealed, white-walled room about a hundred square meters wide, every surface—walls, floor, and ceiling—gleaming white, with not even a door in sight. At the center stood a platform.
Didn’t I die? How did I end up here? He rolled over and stood, only to realize he was completely naked.
He looked around and approached the platform. On it was a button and a golden sheet of paper. He picked up the paper, wondering if someone was playing a prank on him.
The paper read: “Esteemed Liu Feng, because you saved your planet and preserved the lives of 6.5 billion people and countless creatures, your immense merit moved the heavens. You have been summoned here—this is a room I created. Any mortal who dies with a merit value over one billion will have their soul called here. Press the button to find out more. —Hongyun the Grand Ancestor.”
Liu Feng studied the letter in bewilderment—was this real? Save the world? He’d just been shot, hadn’t he? Hongyun the Grand Ancestor—wasn’t he the one who merged with the Way of Heaven, teacher to the Three Pure Ones? Whatever, he thought, may as well press the button.
He pushed it, and a golden screen of light appeared, filled with text and several buttons.
Reading the instructions, Liu Feng began to believe. It explained he was dead and could not return to his original world, but could use his merit to exchange for items and travel to a world of his choice—be it another realm, a movie, a novel, or an anime.
Liu Feng thought it over. He had nothing tying him to Earth; he’d lived alone. So, anime it was!
He tapped the anime option on the screen. The display shifted, just like browsing files on a computer. He checked his merit points—one hundred sixty-eight in total—then looked for what he wanted.
For three points, he exchanged for two rings. The one-point ring was single-use; it could allow up to two people inside for a hundred years of training, but a decade would pass outside. The two-point ring was a spatial ring, with a space as vast as Earth inside—it could hold animals, even people.
Liu Feng grinned as he found more items. For a hundred merit points, he bought a divine cultivation manual: Dragon-Phoenix Divine Art, a supreme dual-cultivation method. Without hesitation, he selected it. A torrent of information flooded his mind, though most of it was sealed; perhaps the seals would unravel as he cultivated.
For ten points, he bought a Devil Fruit: the Logia-type Rumble-Rumble Fruit—immensely powerful. He’d already decided: he was going to the world of One Piece.

For two points, he bought the Navy’s Six Powers. For three points, he got Flash Step from Bleach. For fifteen points, he acquired a blade—the Spirit Snow Blade, a celestial weapon, three fingers wide, with a one-foot hilt and a blade over four feet long, straight and sharp-edged on one side, almost resembling a sword. Its design was ancient, unadorned.
For five points, he chose Conqueror’s Haki.
With thirty points left, he pondered what else to buy. Then he noticed a note after the Devil Fruit: As a person of great merit, you can eat two fruits, and they will not conflict with the world’s existing fruits. Liu Feng laughed and scrolled through the options, finally choosing the Light-Light Fruit—the one Admiral Kizaru had eaten—but he selected purple for the color, to match his Thunder powers.
With twenty points remaining, he discovered he could even buy manga. For five points, he bought a copy of One Piece—so he could reread it at leisure.
Fifteen points left. He checked the lifestyle section, and impulsively spent ten points on cigarettes—his favorite indulgence before he died. These were all top-tier brands, and they filled a tenth of his ring’s space.
With his last five points, he spent two on clothes—the white Arrancar uniform from Bleach, dyed purple with gold patterns for flair—plus some underwear, which took up another tenth of his storage ring. The last two points bought him a pair of Sharingan from Naruto, with no side effects, capable of evolving to Eternal Mangekyo.
He packed everything into his ring, put on the two-point spatial ring, bit his finger to draw blood, and watched as it glowed red and fused into his hand.
Finally, Liu Feng looked around, pressed the button for the One Piece world, chose the time—six months after Gol D. Roger became Pirate King—and set his age to five. As he hit “Enter,” a black hole opened behind him and sucked him in...
Suddenly, footsteps approached. Liu Feng opened his eyes—dark as black gemstones—and looked toward the door.
It opened, and the red-haired boy in the yellow straw hat entered. Seeing Liu Feng awake, he grinned and said, “You’re up! My name’s Shanks—welcome aboard the Pirate King’s ship!”
Liu Feng gazed at the boy—future Emperor of the Sea, Red-Haired Shanks—and his eyes shone with excitement.
Thinking for a moment, Liu Feng guessed that Roger hadn’t disbanded his crew yet. “Hello, my name is Aelros D. Camus, but you can call me Camus.”
...
And thus, the protagonist’s adventure in the world of One Piece is about to begin.
