Chapter 56: Who Are You?
Jiang Yan suddenly recalled the “kind soul” who had cleared obstacles for them—could they already be at the bottom of the cliff? Uncertain whether this person was friend or foe, it was best to remain cautious.
He drew a deep breath and reminded the group, “The mysterious figure who slew so many monsters must be highly cultivated. They might already be at the base of the cliff…”
Hearing Jiang Yan’s words, the others fell silent, lost in thought. Indeed, if the legendary Rebirth Flower truly existed, a conflict with this unknown person would be inevitable. Yet the extent of their cultivation remained a mystery.
Wen Yue, typically quiet, suddenly produced a bottle of pills and said, “These are antidote pills I made myself. You might as well take them now.”
Curiosity flickered in Jiang Yan’s eyes as he asked, “Fourth Sister, do you mean there could be poisonous creatures or gas at the bottom?”
Qin Feifei smiled and explained for him, “No one can say for sure, but your Fourth Sister is not only a skilled physician, her mastery of poisons is rare in the world. By taking her antidote, you can at least ensure you won’t be harmed by her own arts.”
Jiang Yan mused silently—Fourth Sister truly walked a shadowy path. Was this the so-called ‘when strength fails, poison prevails’? Not a bad alternative!
Everyone took a pill from Wen Yue and swallowed it.
Jiang Yan asked, “How do we get down?”
He knew the flight talisman wouldn’t support the weight of their entire camper; it seemed he’d have to stow it in his storage pouch first.
Xie Lingzhou smiled and replied, “Sixth Brother, we’ll simply fly down.”
“Swordflight?” Jiang Yan ventured.
“Haha, not necessary,” Xie Lingzhou laughed. “Have you forgotten? Once you reach Nascent Soul stage, you can fly using your own spiritual power.”
“So only Fourth Sister and I need to use swordflight?”
He glanced at Xiao Bai and continued, “Don’t worry, I’ll take you with me.”
His gaze then fell on the little dragon and the red egg beside it. “Little Dragon, can you fly? Can you carry that divine beast egg?”
The tiny dragon puffed out its chest with pride. “Of course I can fly! Don’t underestimate me. Even ten of these eggs would be no trouble at all.”
Jiang Yan couldn’t help but laugh—this little dragon knew how to boast.
Ji Chuxue, standing nearby, gently commented, “Why not just put it in the spatial ring?”
Jiang Yan paused, curiosity in his voice. “Senior Sister, does your ring hold living things?”
Ji Chuxue nodded lightly. “Of course. It’s a top-grade spatial ring.”
Jiang Yan was surprised—the ring she had lent him was actually top-grade! Clearly, Senior Sister was not wanting for spirit stones.
Ji Chuxue placed the red egg inside her spatial ring and said calmly, “Let’s go down.”
With that, she was the first to cast her spell, leaping gracefully from the cliff. Qin Feifei, Xie Lingzhou, and Wu Qianqian followed suit, each using their own flying techniques, descending lightly. The little dragon soared after them in excitement. Zhou Yu nodded to Jiang Yan, then leapt off the cliff with the girl in his arms.
Jiang Yan turned to Wen Yue. “Fourth Sister, shall we?”
He wondered idly which was faster—swordflight or spellflight.
Wen Yue simply replied, “Yes.”
Then Jiang Yan saw her gently touch the black hairpin in her hair. In an instant, a black pumpkin carriage appeared on the open ground, equipped with black wings and adorned with several large black gems.
Jiang Yan was utterly stunned.
This was no ordinary cultivation realm!
“Fourth Sister… is this your mount?” he asked.
Wen Yue nodded serenely. “Yes, this is my flying treasure. It’s not much to look at, but it can carry four people.”
Seeing Jiang Yan’s shocked expression, she asked, “Would you like to ride?”
“No need, Fourth Sister! I’ll use swordflight myself,” Jiang Yan replied hastily. He was Dragon Ao Tian—how could he ride a pumpkin carriage?
Wen Yue turned to Xiao Bai. “Little Brother, what about you? Would you like to ride?”
Before Jiang Yan could refuse on Xiao Bai’s behalf, the child had already jumped aboard, eyes shining with curiosity.
With Xiao Bai on board, Wen Yue said, “Sixth Brother, we’ll go ahead. Follow on your sword—don’t fall behind.”
With that, she climbed onto the carriage, like a dark princess mounting her chariot.
Seeing Wen Yue’s carriage take flight toward the base of the cliff, Jiang Yan quickly stowed the camper into his storage ring, drew his Flame Sword, and rode its blazing light downward.
He glanced below; his senior brothers and sisters had already left him far behind—even the little dragon flew quickly and steadily. Jiang Yan hastened his sword’s speed, the wind whipping his hair into a wild mess.
At last, Jiang Yan landed at the base of the cliff, where the others had been waiting for some time. He gave an awkward smile. “Sorry, the wind slowed me down a bit.”
Ji Chuxue said, “No matter. As long as you’re safe. Let’s search for the Rebirth Flower.”
With that, they began searching the cliff’s base.
In a shadowy corner not far away, Snow Eagle and Soul Hunter stood guard near the Rebirth Flower. Iron Wing, feigning sleep, suddenly caught a faint trace of its master’s soul aura, drawing ever closer.
It really was the master! The master had come!
Iron Wing, wary of Snow Eagle and Soul Hunter noticing its excitement, kept its eyes shut, pretending to sleep.
“Look! There’s a patch of green over there!” the little dragon exclaimed.
Jiang Yan quickly clamped a hand over the dragon’s mouth. He suspected the mysterious figure was here too.
Sure enough, Soul Hunter, hearing the dragon’s cry, slipped out of hiding like a wraith, appearing before Jiang Yan and the others in a blink. Snow Eagle followed closely.
“Who are you?” Soul Hunter’s voice was cold and emotionless, seeming to freeze the very air.
Jiang Yan and his companions saw that the speaker was a black-clad youth of about eighteen, his gaze icy and piercing. Beside him stood a burly man gripping two massive axes, the blades gleaming menacingly.
Ji Chuxue frowned; these two had cultivation equal to her own.
The little dragon, sensing an aura of the divine realm from them—not mortals—asked, “And who are you?”
