Chapter 124: This is Insufferable, Absolutely Outrageous!
The concubines were thrown into a panic, scrambling to pull the silk quilts over their bodies before hurriedly fumbling into their dresses under the cover of the bedding.
The Pig Demon Chieftain widened his copper-bell eyes and scanned his surroundings, but not a soul was to be seen. Refusing to lose face in front of his beauties, he steeled himself and roared once more: "Which rat is hiding? Get out here at once!"
Before the words had even left his lips, a flash of black and blue sword light cut through the air. The Moxie Sword descended like a bolt of lightning, striking the chieftain squarely on his massive snout.
"Ouch..." the Pig Demon Chieftain howled in pain, his voice echoing throughout the room.
The concubines, still busy dressing, froze in their tracks, as if time itself had come to a standstill at that very moment. They looked at the chieftain in terror, only to see the black and blue sword standing silently before him like a cold, impartial judge. The light flickering along its blade seemed to mock the chieftain’s bedraggled state. The sisters exchanged glances, none daring to make a sound; the air was thick with tension and an unknown dread as they waited for the chieftain’s next move.
What could the Pig Demon Chieftain do? Seeing the Moxie Sword, his heart sank into his boots. His snout twitched, but he couldn't force a single word out. He hadn't forgotten that this sword had a penchant for drinking blood.
Observing the chieftain’s cowardly display, the Moxie Sword swatted his forehead once more. It then pointed its tip toward the pile of clothes, signaling for him to get dressed quickly. The chieftain’s physique was truly an eyesore; it would be a disaster if he offended its master’s sight. Even the patch of coarse pig bristles on his chest made the sword wish it could shave them all off.
The Pig Demon Chieftain was no fool—that was how he had become a leader, after all. He immediately grasped the sword's intent and nodded frantically. "Yes, yes, I'll put my clothes on right away."
With that, he snatched up his garments and dressed with frantic speed. Once he was clothed, the Moxie Sword gestured toward the door, clearly ordering him to leave.
"An immortal must have arrived. Look at me, I’ve been so neglectful. I’m going out now."
The Moxie Sword flew out first. The chieftain paused to instruct his concubines: "Don't be afraid. Stay inside and don't come out." After they nodded, he hurried out of the room.
Outside, Jiang Yan was lounging contentedly on a thick tree branch, cracking melon seeds with an air of total ease. His gaze followed the flight of the Moxie Sword until the Pig Demon Chieftain appeared in his line of sight. Jiang Yan flicked a melon seed, hitting the chieftain right on the forehead. With a playful smirk, he spoke lazily: "Chieftain Zhu, you’re in high spirits today. Finding time to come out for some fresh air?"
The Pig Demon Chieftain looked toward the source of the voice and saw the young man reclining on a sturdy tree.
"Immortal, have you returned because you have further instructions for me?"
Jiang Yan cracked a few more seeds before saying slowly, "Nothing for now. I just wanted you to be a little quieter. Understand?"
Though the Pig Demon Chieftain felt resentful, he dared not show the slightest hint of it on his face. So, he was in his own territory, under his own roof, and he was still an eyesore to this bane of his existence? It was outrageous, utterly unreasonable! But he dared not provoke this menace.
He bowed and scraped, saying, "Understood, understood."
"By the way, your roof is quite nice. We’ll be borrowing it tonight. You should go find somewhere else to rest; it would be a shame if any accidents happened, wouldn't it?"
"Immortal, you may use the roof for as long as you like, just say the word. I shall have my beloved concubines return to their own quarters immediately."
"Mm, go on then."
Having received Jiang Yan’s permission, the chieftain hurried back inside to find the concubines were now fully dressed. Breathless, he ordered, "You... all of you, hurry back to your own rooms."
Not daring to delay, the concubines quickly filed out of the house. Among them, Huahua was the boldest, possessing immense confidence in her own beauty. As she stepped outside, she couldn't help but glance around, her gaze inevitably drifting toward Jiang Yan in the tree. Seeing his handsome features, her heart skipped a beat. What a stunning youth; she had never seen such a beautiful man before... unlike the lazy, ugly lot in their own tribe. As for the chieftain, she had only ever been after his status.
Seeing Huahua standing there in a daze, the chieftain assumed she was frightened and patted her back, reminding her, "Huahua, don't be afraid. Go back to your room."
Coming to her senses, Huahua felt a twinge of guilt. "Hu... Husband, I shall take my leave then." She turned and scurried away without looking back.
Once the concubines had left, the Pig Demon Chieftain let out a sigh of relief and asked Jiang Yan, "Immortal, do you have any other orders?"
"Get lost," Jiang Yan replied coolly.
The Pig Demon Chieftain stood stunned—he felt truly humiliated. "Yes, Immortal, I am leaving now." With that, he took his leave.
Jiang Yan brushed the stray hairs from his forehead and muttered to himself, "Finally, some peace and quiet. I wonder if Master has woken up yet."
He glanced at the Moxie Sword. Since the little dragon wasn't around, he would leave the errands to it. "Moxie, go see if my Master is awake."
"Yes, Master."
The Moxie Sword flew to the roof and found that the master was still in a deep slumber, the elder martial sister was chatting with Yunyun, and Li Dabao was lost in a daze.
"Master, your teacher is still sleeping."
"Understood. Stay there and keep watch. Let me know the moment he wakes up."
"Understood, Master. Leave it to me."
Time drifted by as they waited. Night fell, and stars began to twinkle in the black sky. Jiang Yan lay on the tree branch, enjoying the tranquility. It seemed his master had come specifically to enjoy the night view; there had been no word from the sword even at this hour.
Just as he was about to go and wake his master himself, the voice of the Moxie Sword echoed in his mind.
"Master, your teacher has awakened."
"Good..."
Jiang Yan flew instantly from the tree to the roof.
"Master."
"Good disciple, come here and watch closely."
As Lin Qi spoke, he brought out the Star-Fortune Compass and began to observe intently. Jiang Yan watched as his master held the compass toward the sky, as if probing for something. It wasn't until the compass needle slowly stopped in one direction that Lin Qi put the device away, a glimmer of excitement flashing in his eyes.
"It is in this direction!"
Before the words had faded, his figure blurred as he darted in the direction the needle had pointed. His hands moved rapidly, weaving through a series of hand seals, and streams of magic force danced at his fingertips, radiating a dazzling glow. Jiang Yan saw a formation gradually manifest in the sky; it was identical to the one made of stones he had seen in the Pig Demon tribe's bamboo forest.
As the light of the formation grew brighter, beads of sweat appeared on Lin Qi's forehead.
"Break!" Lin Qi roared, his voice like a thunderclap.
In an instant, the formation in the sky blossomed like a spectacular firework, crackling and scattering into rays of light that gradually dissipated into the horizon.
"Wow, that was truly beautiful!" Yunyun exclaimed in admiration.
