Chapter Seventeen: An Unexpected Delight

Zhang Feng, Liu Mei, and Zhang Yating had just stepped out of the car dealership when Zhang Feng suddenly turned back and slapped Liu Mei hard.
“Are you out of your mind? I told you not to casually use my uncle’s name out there. Who the hell do you think you are?”
Liu Mei, holding her cheek with a mix of innocence and anger, retorted, “Brother Feng! I’m only doing this for you. That bastard Xu Yi humiliated us—are we just supposed to let it go? What’s wrong with me speaking up?”
“Are you still a man or not? If you’ve got the guts, go and finish him off. Why hit me?”
Her words felt like salt rubbed into his wound.
Zhang Feng flew into a rage and slapped her again. “You shameless woman, how dare you talk back? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be stuck in this damn mess.”
“That Xu Yi! I won’t let him off the hook. He’s nothing but a pesky bug. I have a hundred ways to crush him. Don’t think you can teach me how to handle things.”
“Get lost! I don’t want to see you, you jinx.”
With that, Zhang Feng turned to Zhang Yating, his tone softening slightly but still cold: “Tell your boyfriend to stop hiding and come out quickly to explain where the scar went. I can wait, but my uncle won’t.”
Zhang Yating frowned. “I don’t even know where Zhiyong is right now. He’s not answering my calls.”
Zhang Feng snapped irritably, “That’s your problem, none of my business. Unless…”
A lecherous grin spread across Zhang Feng’s face. “Unless you sleep with me a few times. Maybe then I can buy you some time.”
A chill ran through Zhang Yating’s body. She quickly said, “I’ll talk to Zhiyong.”
“Hmph! You better!” Zhang Feng sneered, then turned and drove off without a glance back, completely ignoring the two women.
Liu Mei stood there, her gaze filled with bitterness as she watched the others leave.
“Pfft! A whore, pretending to be all high and mighty. You’re nothing but a slut. Leaving Xu Yi, you deserve what you get!”
“Damn it! Zhang Feng is such a useless coward. How dare he hit me? After all this time, he didn’t even buy me a car! One minute of impotence, not a real man. Who does he think he is?”
“And that Xu Yi! Damn him! If he hadn’t been there today, I wouldn’t be in such a mess. I have no idea where he got all that money!”
“Damn! Everyone looks down on me! Just wait, sooner or later you’ll all be begging on your knees, licking my toes! Hmph!”
Cursing under her breath, Liu Mei finally turned and left the spot.
...
Thirty minutes later, having completed all the paperwork.

Zeng Lili was driving a big Mercedes G-Class, with Xu Yi sitting in the passenger seat as they left the dealership.
Zeng Lili drove cautiously, her mood a bit uneasy. She stole a glance at Xu Yi, noticing him smiling as his eyes wandered over her chest.
Suddenly, she felt nervous, a flush creeping over her pretty face.
Xu Yi sighed, somewhat helpless. “Relax, I’m not the kind of guy you think who plays dirty.”
He shifted his gaze away. His right eye was shrouded in a faint mist—he had activated his “Mind Insight” ability a while ago.
Zeng Lili’s inner voice echoed in Xu Yi’s mind.
“Ugh! Using that kind of look on me and then saying he’s not thinking that way. Men really are all pigs.”
“But… he’s quite handsome. I wonder if he has a girlfriend. Wait, wasn’t the girl who came to cause trouble just now his ex? Hehe! Good-looking, but her figure isn’t as good as mine.”
“Ugh, what am I thinking! Lili, your goal now is to make money—lots of it. You have to redeem grandpa’s house as soon as possible!”
Xu Yi felt a little helpless. Before activating “Mind Insight,” he had no idea how much drama was playing out in Zeng Lili’s mind.
Gathering his words, he continued, “There are actually two reasons I asked you to come out with me.”
“First, I haven’t driven in a long time and need someone to accompany me on the drive.”
“Second, I’m curious about the item you’re wearing on your chest. Could you let me take a look?”
Xu Yi’s tone was sincere. He had noticed the jade pendant Zeng Lili wore during the car selection process.
Whenever he got close to it, he sensed a faint spiritual energy emanating from the pendant.
This was unprecedented, so naturally, Xu Yi wanted to understand what was going on.
“A jade pendant?”
Zeng Lili was startled, instinctively reaching up to touch the pendant. Her eyes clouded with sadness.
“Mind Insight” revealed the story to Xu Yi.
The jade pendant was a keepsake left by Zeng Lili’s late grandfather, the only possession he had left her.
Xu Yi pondered for a moment. “Don’t worry, I won’t force you to give it up. I just want to take a look. As compensation, I’m willing to pay you well.”
Hearing this, Zeng Lili shook her head, then pulled over and handed the pendant to Xu Yi with a muffled tone: “You don’t need to pay. It’s just an ordinary jade pendant, something my elder left me. You can look at it. Just promise to return it.”
Xu Yi nodded and took the pendant.

The jade pendant was warm to the touch, carrying Zeng Lili’s body heat along with a faint, delicate fragrance.
Xu Yi brought the pendant close to his eyes. It wasn’t particularly extraordinary, but it clearly bore the mark of age.
A subtle spiritual power emanated faintly.
He decided to activate his clairvoyance.
His eyes clouded over with mist, and suddenly a cool, soothing current radiated from the pendant, shooting into Xu Yi’s eyes.
Xu Yi was astonished! Yet the next moment, a wave of pure coolness washed through his mind, and his spiritual power increased slightly!
His eyes widened in delight, his heart soaring.
He hadn’t expected to come to buy a car and find such a pleasant surprise.
This ancient artifact could actually enhance his spiritual power!
What did that mean?
It meant Xu Yi could use “Mind Insight” longer and expand the range of his clairvoyance!
Xu Yi’s face lit up with joy as he fondled the pendant, a scene all noted by Zeng Lili.
Her inner voice blurted: “Pervert! He only asked to look because the pendant’s on me. And he’s touching it! Such a big pervert!”
Xu Yi was caught off guard by the inner voice, sensing Zeng Lili’s disgust. His face flushed with embarrassment.
He suddenly realized that casually using his “Mind Insight” ability wasn’t a great idea.
Right now, it was only making things more awkward.
He turned off “Mind Insight” and returned the pendant to Zeng Lili.
Sincerely, he said, “Lili, thank you for trusting me with such an important keepsake. If you want, I am truly willing to pay you for it.”
Zeng Lili felt his sincerity and her animosity softened. Taking back the pendant, she smiled, “Forget it! Just a glance isn’t worth money.”
Xu Yi thought for a moment. “How about this? I’m still not familiar with driving and need to visit some places today. Why don’t you be my driver? I’ll pay you for it.”
Zeng Lili was about to refuse.
Xu Yi added casually, “As for pay—ten thousand a day. How’s that?”
Zeng Lili’s eyes widened in shock!
