Chapter One: Winning Two Hundred Thousand!

Southern Province, Donghai City, Jiangtai District, at the border between urban and rural areas, inside a cramped lottery shop.
Xu Yi’s eyes shone with intensity as scratch-off tickets slid swiftly through his hands, one after another. Soon, he finished a whole booklet of scratch-offs and immediately reached for another, brand new stack beside him.
Smack!
A plump hand landed on the tickets before him.
“Hey, buddy! You’ve been flipping through these for half an hour already. Are you buying or not? If you’re not, quit messing around! These are all the latest scratch-offs! If you damage them, you’ll have to pay for them!”
An impatient voice rang in Xu Yi’s ear.
Xu Yi looked up and found the shop owner staring at him warily.
Xu Yi frowned slightly. “I told you before, this is how I buy scratch-offs. If I damage anything, I’ll pay for it.”
The owner eyed him even more suspiciously. “Strange! Kid, I’ve run this shop for years, never seen anyone scratch tickets like you. Do you think you can see through them? You think you can just look and know if there’s a prize?”
Xu Yi glanced at the owner meaningfully and replied calmly, “How do you know? Maybe I really can see through them.”
The owner was stunned.
Xu Yi pulled a hundred-yuan bill from his pocket, slapped it on the table, and took the booklet from beneath the owner’s hand.
“The money’s right here! Watch closely—your scratch-offs are twenty apiece, I’m paying a hundred, but I only want one ticket.”
“One? Are you sure?” The owner asked, dumbfounded.
Xu Yi said lightly, “Absolutely. One is enough. With a single ticket, I’ll win your grand prize.”
Ignoring the owner’s bewildered gaze, Xu Yi picked up the scratch-off and began to examine it with intense focus.
The owner sneered inwardly, thinking, “This guy must be an idiot! Showing off in front of me, really thinks he can see through the tickets. Fool! If you had that ability, why bother with lotteries? Go gamble on gemstones!”
Though annoyed, the owner picked up Xu Yi’s bill, checked its authenticity, and tucked it away with satisfaction.
“Whatever. This kid’s got more money than sense. No way he’ll win the grand prize with just one ticket. If he does, I’ll eat this whole booklet myself!”
The owner shook his head, his suspicion giving way to pity as he looked at Xu Yi.
He was convinced this young man was nothing more than a show-off, a fool who thought a lottery ticket could make him rich overnight.
Xu Yi, of course, had no idea what the owner was thinking. But even if he did, it wouldn’t matter.
Why?

Because the owner had no clue!
Xu Yi really did possess the power of clairvoyance.
The moment he discovered his ability, Xu Yi understood that money was the easiest thing in the world for him to obtain.
Gambling on gemstones or scratch-offs—it made no difference to Xu Yi. He’d chosen scratch-offs simply because there happened to be a lottery shop nearby, and he wanted to test his newly acquired power.
The scratch-off in his hand was worth twenty yuan, and the biggest prize was two hundred thousand! With his clairvoyance, Xu Yi naturally aimed for the grand prize.
Two hundred thousand was only the beginning...
Xu Yi’s gaze was resolute, but beneath it lingered a deep hatred, his memory drifting back to three days prior.
Three days ago, Xu Yi was just a fresh graduate about to start his first job, recommended by his university mentor to teach physical education at Donghai Middle School.
But on his way to report at the school, Xu Yi witnessed several thugs blocking a luxury car and dragging out a female middle school student.
Desperate cries for help rang out, and Xu Yi instantly realized it was a kidnapping.
As a hot-blooded young man and a martial arts graduate, Xu Yi believed in standing up for others. He couldn't just watch—he intervened decisively.
Relying on his martial arts skills, Xu Yi quickly knocked the thugs down.
But before he could boast his name was “Lei Feng,” a cold wind brushed the back of his head.
Xu Yi was ambushed and lost consciousness.
When he awoke, he found himself trapped in an airtight chamber.
Before him stood two masked strangers. Over the next three days, they tortured Xu Yi relentlessly.
Whips, waterboarding, electric shocks—Xu Yi endured inhuman torment, his body mangled. Their only demand: What was his connection to the Huo family?
Xu Yi had never heard of the Huo family. He guessed it was somehow connected to the girl he rescued, but his captors refused to believe him.
During this time, Xu Yi begged countless times for mercy, pleaded to be released, but it was all in vain.
Gradually, Xu Yi knew his odds of survival were slim.
In the end, the two masked men forced poison down his throat, set fire to the chamber, and left Xu Yi like a dead dog to perish.
Xu Yi was plunged into despair—but after the despair came a fierce unwillingness.
He still had so much to do, debts to repay to his mentor!
How could he die now?
He was still young, his life had just begun. Was he supposed to die just for intervening in a kidnapping?
Page 3
No, no, no! I shouldn’t die!
Perhaps fate refused to cut Xu Yi’s path short. He had no idea what poison the masked men forced him to swallow.
After enduring excruciating pain, he discovered to his shock that he hadn’t died. Instead, his injuries began to heal at an astonishing rate!
His fierce desire to live gave him the strength to break his shackles at the last moment and escape before the fire consumed the chamber.
After fleeing, Xu Yi collapsed.
When he awoke again, he was amazed to find his left eye possessed the power of clairvoyance.
To test his new ability, Xu Yi went straight to the lottery shop for scratch-offs, leading to the scene at the beginning.
Inside the shop.
The owner paid no attention to the focused Xu Yi, and so failed to notice the faint mist that now shrouded Xu Yi’s left eye.
Through this mist, Xu Yi’s left eye pierced the surface of the scratch-off, revealing the hidden numbers within!
His hands moved quickly through the tickets, and soon the stack was nearly gone—still, he hadn’t found the grand prize number.
Until—
The last ticket!
Xu Yi’s eyes suddenly flashed, his hands clamped tightly onto the scratch-off.
He’d won! The grand prize number—two hundred thousand!
Excited, Xu Yi shouted, “Boss! This ticket! Watch closely, I told you I’d hit the grand prize with just one ticket!”
Xu Yi’s shout startled the owner, who hurried over to look.
The scratch-off Xu Yi chose was worth twenty yuan, with the grand prize number being “7.” There were fifteen prize zones on the ticket—if any revealed a “7,” the winner would take two hundred thousand!
At that moment, Xu Yi had scratched only the last area at the lower right corner.
And there, clear as day, was the number—
“7!”
