17 The Art of Enhancing the Mood
"How do you know the Fusang language? And how did your strength improve so much?" Liu Lang scratched his head, watching as Liu Fei'er translated sentence by sentence for him. She could even point out the flow and rhythm of his spiritual power; she was like a completely different person.
"A vampire's power comes from blood," Liu Fei'er said, wearing one of Liu Lang's oversized T-shirts. Her thighs were rounded and full, contrasting beautifully with her slender calves in a perfect proportion that distracted Liu Lang from his studies.
"Daly dissected numerous ninjas and refined a blood crystal. I absorbed it, my strength leveled up directly, and the option for the Fusang language appeared in my mind, along with a wealth of ninja combat experience."
"So you can use ninjutsu now too?" Liu Lang was astonished.
Liu Fei'er nodded. "I can also absorb chakra, though there is a slight mutation. After I absorb a ninja's blood, I can refine it directly into chakra. However, using ninjutsu leaves behind a trace of vampire energy."
As Liu Lang was stroking her thigh, there was a "pop." When the smoke cleared, he found himself holding a chair instead. There was a faint scent of blood in the air, though it dissipated quickly.
"Daly also tested my chakra affinity; it should be wind and water. Because I am a vampire, my nature has developed a new mutation. He named it the 'Blood' element. Perhaps in the future, I can develop it into 'Blood Release' ninjutsu."
With that, Liu Fei'er skillfully performed hand seals and demonstrated basic ninjutsu like the Fireball and Water Ball techniques.
Liu Lang said happily, "That's great! Your strength has improved significantly, and your method for increasing it is fast too..."
"What do you mean 'fast'? Daly said he had to dissect hundreds of ninjas to refine just one crystal." She gently moved Liu Lang's hand away from her thigh. "If I want to advance to the next level, he estimates I'll need the blood of at least several thousand ninjas."
Compared to Liu Fei'er's natural aptitude for ninjutsu, Liu Lang's talent seemed rather average.
The scrolls recorded basic ninjutsu. Aside from the Substitution Jutsu, Liu Lang could perform the others after practicing, but with twice the effort for half the result.
Take the Fireball Jutsu, for example: he often had to use several times the normal amount of chakra just to spit out a fireball the size of a finger.
"Perhaps it's due to my unique spiritual energy. While its generation efficiency is higher than standard spiritual energy or chakra, it doesn't adapt well to ninjutsu. I should continue focusing on the path of immortality and use the Sharingan and Susanoo bloodline abilities as my trump cards for now."
The most advanced ninjutsu in the scrolls was the Shadow Clone Technique.
"Poof!" As the smoke dispersed, one Liu Fei'er after another appeared.
They lined up in a row, then circled around, consuming Liu Lang's energy over and over again.
Liu Lang withstood the test of many, for even though they were only shadow clones, they were no different from the real person.
"I really can't do it anymore; I need a rest. If you still need someone, just use my clones," Liu Fei'er said, ignoring Liu Lang as she sat cross-legged to meditate and regulate her breathing.
Soft, rhythmic sounds filled the room once more.
Because Liu Lang's intensity was quite high, Liu Fei'er had to continuously output chakra to maintain the shadow clones, which significantly reduced the effectiveness of her own meditation.
However, because her true self wasn't directly involved, this served as a test of her chakra control and refinement.
"This seems to be a way to temper chakra," Liu Fei'er realized deeply. "What if I do this?"
A shadow clone appeared and began practicing a water-style ninjutsu—the Water Prison Technique.
Practicing ninjutsu, beyond field experience, first requires understanding the rhythm and pathways of the chakra within the body.
The shadow clone was doing exactly that.
Her true self only needed to provide a steady stream of chakra.
"The efficiency is indeed high; I can temper my chakra and practice ninjutsu simultaneously," beads of sweat appeared on Liu Fei'er's forehead.
The shadow clone condensed water droplets around its body, and soon, it was soaked. This was part of the ninjutsu practice; as chakra circulated through the body, it triggered the characteristics of the technique—in this case, the appearance of water vapor, mist, and droplets.
Since this was her first time practicing in this form, her chakra control wasn't perfect. The shadow clone, which was also engaged in high-intensity "study" with Liu Lang, began to leak water droplets that mixed with her sweat.
"Water Prison Technique, complete!"
The shadow clone was trapped inside a water sphere just large enough to contain it.
The Water Prison Technique, as the name suggests, traps the enemy within a sphere created after the technique is activated; it is a method of immobilization.
Liu Fei'er had clearly practiced it wrong the first time, but fortunately, since she was practicing with a shadow clone, she could simply dispel it.
She stopped paying attention to the clone trapped in the water sphere.
However, she discovered that the shadow clone busy with Liu Lang had also been affected, now wrapped in a large water sphere as well. The two of them were moving in and out of the sphere quite comfortably.
This was no longer the Water Prison Technique; it could be called the "Water Bed Technique."
"The water is a bit cold. If you could combine it with fire-style ninjutsu to heat it up, that would be even better," Liu Lang suggested, finding a moment to speak. He even thought this was Liu Fei'er's "enhancement technique."
Liu Fei'er's expression was a bit complex.
A box on the table began to "beep."
She immediately dispelled the ninjutsu, packed her things, and prepared to leave.
Liu Lang looked at her with confusion. "Aren't you going to sleep here with me?"
Liu Fei'er thought of something unpleasant and rolled her eyes at him. "Your childhood friend is an A-rank expert and a cultivator. If it weren't for this sensory-shielding device, I wouldn't dare come here to sneak around with you!"
With that, she transformed into a bat and flew away.
In his laboratory, Daly stared nervously at the clock.
"The maximum duration of the shielding device has passed. Nothing has happened in the camp, so the device must be a success!"
Although Xiao Rong had not cooperated with his research, he had still conducted several experiments targeting cultivators.
The higher a cultivator's strength, the stronger their senses; that was exactly what he had developed the shield to counter.
He had lied to Liu Fei'er, claiming it was a mature product, but tonight was actually its first real-world test.
Fortunately, he had succeeded.
"Cultivation isn't invincible... No, wait, no wish-granting ability can be invincible!" Daly looked around at the glass jars filled with ninja organs in his lab, a surge of boundless power rising in his heart.
"Now that I have Liu Fei'er's assistance, the next focus will be on vampire research. If only I could apply these research results to ordinary people; that is the true meaning of science."
