Volume One, Chapter 12: Intercepting Orders, Obstructing Cooperation
“Why are you here?” He Jingcheng asked her coldly.
Jiang Shuwei replied, “I’m here on business.”
Su Mian stepped forward and said, “Jiang Shuwei, you’re following him so closely, Brother Jingcheng doesn’t even have time to breathe. Do you really need to be this strict?”
He Jingcheng ignored her and addressed the manager, “Clear out floors seven to ten entirely. Rent them to the Su Group for their subsidiary.”
Hearing this, Su Mian smirked slightly and looked at Jiang Shuwei with a mix of provocation and pride.
The manager was about to respond when his phone rang. He glanced at it and said, “It’s the chairman.”
He Jingcheng nodded for him to answer the call.
After finishing the call, the manager hurried over and said, “President He, Miss Su, there’s a matter that might be difficult to handle.”
“What is it?” He Jingcheng frowned.
Manager Wang looked at Jiang Shuwei and said, “The chairman just called to say the eighth floor is to be allocated to Miss Jiang.”
Everyone stared at Jiang Shuwei.
She straightened her back, glanced at He Jingcheng, and said, “I really am here on official business.”
Su Mian clenched her fist secretly and said to He Jingcheng, “Brother Jingcheng, if the eighth floor goes to someone else, then Su Group’s subsidiary will only have floors seven, nine, and ten, which means their workspace won’t be connected.”
He Jingcheng hadn’t anticipated this unexpected turn; he had already decided to lease those four floors to Su Group for smoother cooperation.
“Jiang Shuwei, vacate the eighth floor.” His tone was less a request and more a command.
Jiang Shuwei had initially thought of refusing—after all, the Su family establishing a subsidiary here meant she and Su Mian would meet frequently, and she wanted to avoid such trouble.
But He Jingcheng’s tone now annoyed her.
Since the old master had granted her the entire eighth floor, she naturally didn’t intend to yield.
“Manager Wang, can we sign the contract first? I’ve decided on this floor.” Jiang Shuwei turned to Manager Wang.
Wang was stunned and dared not answer, nervously looking at He Jingcheng.
As the heir of the He family, He Jingcheng seemed to have the authority to handle the family’s properties.
Su Mian’s face darkened as she said to Jiang Shuwei, “You must have done this on purpose, knowing I was going to set up a subsidiary here, so you asked Grandpa He for this floor?”
Jiang Shuwei replied calmly, “Sorry, I had no idea you were here. I’m just here to sign a contract.”
“This contract is not to be signed.” He Jingcheng looked sternly at Manager Wang.
Wang felt as if he had been thrown into the Siberian snow, freezing to the bone. He awkwardly said to Jiang Shuwei, “Sorry, Miss Jiang, this matter needs to be negotiated further between you all.”
Jiang Shuwei wouldn’t trouble someone without decision-making power; she nodded, “Alright, I’ll wait for your news.”
With that, she turned and left.
Su Mian looked aggrieved and said to He Jingcheng, “What should we do? Brother Jingcheng, if our two companies are cooperating, do we really have to give up the office building?”
He Jingcheng comforted her softly, “Let me first find out why Jiang Shuwei wants to move in here.”
---
Just after three in the afternoon.
He Group’s office.
He Jingcheng received an investigative report handed over by his assistant, Yao Jie.
“That tiny studio with only two people? It landed a ten-million order?”
Yao Jie pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, disbelief on his face. “Yes, President He, Miss Jiang truly conquered them with her talent…”
He stopped mid-sentence.
He Jingcheng was among the few aware of He and Jiang’s marriage.
Yao Jie thought their marriage surviving this long was a miracle.
Divorce news could come at any moment.
So, Jiang Shuwei showing up now to fight for office space was certainly unwise.
Of course, many women resort to extreme measures to get a man’s attention.
Perhaps this was Jiang’s ploy to catch President He’s eye.
“Contact the person in charge; I want to meet him.” He Jingcheng slammed the report on the table, stood up, lit a cigarette, and moved to the floor-to-ceiling window.
If he could just intercept her order, maybe she wouldn’t need to expand her studio.
“President He, isn’t this a bit inappropriate?” Yao Jie asked nervously.
He Jingcheng inhaled, the smoke framing his handsome face, and coldly said, “Is it appropriate for her to snatch my office without cause?”
Yao Jie shuddered in fear; everyone knew President He was domineering. Jiang Shuwei had struck a hard chord.
Yao Jie quickly contacted the head of Tuyu.
---
Night fell.
In a private dining room, He Jingcheng sat elegantly in his chair. The head of Tuyu, Mr. Zhang, entered.
“President He, it’s an honor to dine with you,” Zhang said excitedly, reaching out to shake hands.
He Jingcheng didn’t move. Zhang’s hand froze mid-air, then he withdrew it, still visibly excited.
“What did you want to discuss, President He?” Zhang asked quickly.
He Jingcheng said coldly, “Are you intending to cooperate with a medical illustration studio called ‘Clear View’?”
Zhang was stunned. “How did you know about that?”
He Jingcheng said coldly, “Change your partner, and tonight’s meal is on me.”
Zhang looked extremely troubled, his face flushed. “President He, you might not know, but Tuyu belongs to the Qin Group. This cooperation wasn’t our own decision. After seeing Clear View’s portfolio, President Qin personally requested to collaborate with them.”
He Jingcheng narrowed his eyes and stared coldly at Zhang.
“Which President Qin?”
Zhang grew nervous. “Young President Qin.”
“He Weizhou?” He Jingcheng’s expression changed slightly, surprised it was him.
Zhang anxiously wrung his fingers and nodded. “Yes, President Qin seems to admire Clear View’s portfolio greatly and specifically named them at the meeting.”
He Jingcheng gritted his teeth, silently lighting another cigarette.
Yao Jie’s face tensed beside him.
Having served He Jingcheng for years, he knew well the weight that name carried.
He Weizhou was He Jingcheng’s archrival; they had been bitter enemies since high school.
Their families were equally powerful in business, with Qin’s background more mysterious and tied to military and government.
Zhang was sweating profusely; the atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.
“So, no room for negotiation?” He Jingcheng exhaled smoke.
Zhang almost knelt, thinking, “Oh dear, this isn’t something I can decide.”
“Leave now.” He Jingcheng flicked ash, showing no intent to make things hard for this minor player.
Yao Jie spoke up, “President He, if Young President Qin holds the decision, this will be difficult.”
“What’s difficult?” He Jingcheng crushed the cigarette. “In my eyes, there’s nothing impossible.”
Yao Jie was shocked. Could President He really try to negotiate with He Weizhou?
He Jingcheng stood and headed out.
---
A few days later, at a business exchange event, He Jingcheng encountered Qin Weizhou, the Qin family’s only son.
Their confrontations had always been silent battles of glances—ignore me, and I’ll ignore you.
They brushed past each other.
But the next second, He Jingcheng stopped, hands in pockets, and said, “President Qin, what do you know about Clear View Studio?”
Qin Weizhou looked at him oddly, his voice low and smooth. “Clear View? I have no recollection.”
He Jingcheng was frustrated; if Qin Weizhou didn’t even know the studio, why insist on partnering with them?
“That Clear View Studio specializes in medical illustration,” He Jingcheng reminded him lazily.
“Oh.” Qin Weizhou seemed to remember something, nodding slowly. “I think we do have a collaboration with them. Why? Are you interested, President He?”
“Not interested.” He Jingcheng said, stepping closer to Qin Weizhou. “Then do you know who runs Clear View Studio?”
