Zhang Feng led the protagonist straight into a room.

When she opened the door, she saw a drum set and a blackboard inside, the board covered with all kinds of musical scores.

"Well, do you still remember this place?" Zhang Feng asked after bringing the protagonist here.

"Of course I do," he replied with a nod.

He could not have been more familiar with this place. He had spent seven or eight years in this classroom, in other words, a large part of his childhood had passed here.

This was the music classroom where Zhang Feng and the protagonist had learned the drums. They used to practice here every day, and every corner of the room was filled with their memories, with both sweat and joy.

The moment the protagonist arrived at the door, he recognized the place at a glance, because it was simply too familiar to him, familiar to the point that he could identify it instantly.

"All right, then. Stay here for a while. I won't disturb you," Zhang Feng said after bringing him into the music room, and then she went to wait by the door. Her purpose was simple: she wanted him to calm down here and hoped he could find that feeling from before again.

After all, the one who tied the bell must be the one to untie it; some problems still had to be solved by the person himself, and no one else could be of much help.

After Zhang Feng left, the protagonist stayed alone in the music room, and memories suddenly began surging through his mind.

This music room contained far too many of his beautiful memories from the past. Back then, he had been the most carefree in this room; every day after class, he could come here to play the drums and relax properly.

He still remembered that all he had ever wanted was to play the drums as well as he possibly could, so as not to let down the people who had placed their hopes in him. And back then, he truly loved the drums, treating them as a hobby for leisure.

But for reasons he no longer knew, he gradually began to see the drums as a tool for making money, slowly losing sight of his original heart and completely casting aside the ideals he once held dear. Good drums or bad drums no longer mattered; as long as they could bring him money, they were good drums.

Now that he thought back on it, the change in his mindset must have begun quietly after he became famous. He had been dazzled by the bright lights and glittering pleasures of the big city, and the ideals in his heart had also changed little by little.

Yet the moment he stepped in here, it was as though he saw the version of himself who had once trained diligently here every single day. Thinking of that scene, he could not help but sigh.

That was exactly why Zhang Feng had brought him here. She hoped he would remember some of those old memories and, from them, recover the fighting spirit that had always belonged to him, instead of remaining so dispirited and listless.

While the protagonist was deep in thought inside the music room, Zhang Feng was pacing wildly outside the door. She truly hoped her Ran would return to normal and stop being like this. The sight of him now hurt her heart; such a good person had been tormented into this state, and he was like a completely different person from the Ran she had known before.

Just as Zhang Feng was waiting anxiously outside, the door to the music room finally opened. Hearing the sound, Zhang Feng quickly lifted her head to look at the protagonist, eager to know the result of his time alone in the room.

When Zhang Feng looked up, she saw the protagonist smiling at her. Although his face was still pale, his eyes were far firmer than before, and he looked much more spirited overall.

In the room, he had thought about many, many things. In the end, he realized that deep down, he still refused to admit defeat. He would not accept this reality. He wanted to prove to the people on the internet, and prove fiercely, that he was not the so-called artificial genius they called him. Why should all the years of hard work he had put in be so easily denied by a few sentences from them?

After he figured all this out, he immediately felt much freer. Before he had come to terms with it, he had been in a state of utter exhaustion, with no energy to do anything. Even when he ate, he would just force down a few bites and call it done.

He had become almost no different from someone without desires or ambitions at all; before he had worked through it, he was practically no different from a vegetable.

When Zhang Feng saw that he had come to understand, she was so happy she nearly jumped for joy, because at last her goal had been achieved. Her good brother was finally uplifted.

In her excitement, Zhang Feng even hugged the protagonist. When he was held in her arms, his eyes widened instantly.

This was the first time he had ever hugged Zhang Feng. He had never done anything like that before. And when he held Zhang Feng in his arms, a feeling suddenly rose in his heart, a feeling even he himself could not identify. He had never experienced anything like it before.

Zhang Feng quickly realized that what she had done might not have been appropriate, so after giving him a quick hug, she hastily let go. Then, after the embrace, she awkwardly smoothed down her hair, pretending that nothing had happened.

The protagonist understood the situation as well. He would not bring it up on his own, and if this matter were never mentioned, that would be fine. The two of them tacitly chose not to speak of it, acting as though it had never happened.

"So, what do you want to eat? Sister Feng will treat you to a meal, consider it a proper welcome back, all right?" Zhang Feng hurriedly changed the subject, eager to put the hug behind them.

The protagonist did not overthink it. He simply followed Zhang Feng's lead and started thinking about what dishes they should order later.

The two of them walked down the street talking as they went, while the setting sun cast its glow upon their shadows. The shadows slowly lengthened, creating a scene of quiet serenity.

As they were walking along the street, Zhang Feng's father slowly peeked out from the side as well. It turned out that he had been paying close attention to where they were going all along. Although he had not shown much concern in his words, in truth he had always been watching over the protagonist's mood.

After so many years, he had already come to regard the protagonist as his own son. Seeing the protagonist and Zhang Feng like this, he smiled in satisfaction.

It was clear from their expressions that the knot in his heart had finally been loosened considerably, and that he had returned to a normal state.
