Chapter Nine: "Don’t call me Auntie, call me Sister~"

Cheng Han raised her hand to scratch her face, then suddenly a bright idea struck her.
“Miss An’an, the dog has come home. You want to find your mister too, right? The dog has gone back to find its dad.”
An’an nodded knowingly, without fuss, and simply said, “An’an wants Bobo.”
Cheng Han nodded, “Then, Miss An’an, can you wait for me a moment? I’ll go ask, is that okay?”
An’an sat obediently on the carpet, quietly playing with the stuffed sheep while waiting for Cheng Han to leave.
Uncle Lin sent a message to Lu Jinqiao, and within two minutes, Lu Jinqiao replied.
“Uncle Lin, thank you for bringing An’an here.”
After receiving the message, Uncle Lin took An’an to the company.
Since they had already been to the company once, An’an wasn’t particularly curious.
But because last time Lu Jinqiao had carried her and left quickly before she could see much, this time An’an nestled in Uncle Lin’s arms, her big grape-like eyes filled with curiosity as she looked around.
She wasn’t afraid of strangers at all and greeted them with an adorable little girl’s charm.
After the visitors left, those who had just been charmed by An’an’s smile couldn’t help but pull out their phones to slack off.
Once An’an was handed over to Lu Jinqiao, Uncle Lin returned home.
There was no other way; family matters required his attention. He had to bear the pain of parting with Miss An’an.
Lu Jinqiao held An’an in his arms, gently squeezing her small hand, making little dimples.
“An’an, Daddy’s going to a meeting soon. You stay here and watch Sheepy, okay? Daddy will have another auntie come keep you company, alright?”
An’an nodded, “Okay! Watch Sheepy!”
Lu Jinqiao found some cartoons for An’an and called Xu Hong to come over shortly.
Assistant Lin tidied up his files and knocked on Lu Jinqiao’s door to remind him it was time for the meeting.
Hearing the knock, Lu Jinqiao placed An’an on the chair, adjusted its height for her comfort, and patted her little head. “Daddy’s going to a meeting now.”
An’an hugged Sheepy and waved at Lu Jinqiao, “Bobo go! An’an watch Sheepy!”
Only then did Lu Jinqiao leave, letting Xu Hong come in as well.
Xu Hong had already heard in the company chat that a child would be coming today, so when Lu Jinqiao called her, she had a good guess.
Upon entering the large office, there was only a faint voice saying, “I will definitely come back,” but no one was visible.
Xu Hong shifted slightly and finally spotted An’an, well hidden behind the computer.
At that moment, Xu Hong’s eyes seemed to turn into hearts, as if about to leap out.
Today, An’an wore a blue dress, her hair tied into little braids by Cheng Han, with matching hair clips. Her fair, tender skin made her look soft and sweet, like a freshly baked sea salt-flavored little cake just taken out of the oven!

Xu Hong always loved children, especially those so cute, fair, and soft.
Setting temperament aside, An’an’s appearance instantly won over Xu Hong’s heart.
An’an noticed the strange auntie standing behind the computer and tilted her head to greet her, “Auntie, hello~”
Xu Hong replied, “Hello, hello, you too, hehe.”
Then realizing, she corrected herself, “Don’t call me auntie, call me sister~”
If anyone under Xu Hong’s command had heard that, they would have trembled in fear.
Xu Hong was known to be decisive and efficiency-driven; no one under her command escaped her criticism at some point, but everyone improved greatly because of it.
Now, however.
Xu Hong was smiling gently, coaxing—or rather, negotiating—with the little girl to change how she addressed her.
She knew perfectly well that the “auntie” label came from her boss. How could she be an auntie? Sister was far more fitting.
Such an adorable little one deserved to call her sister.
Though… no buts!
An’an obediently called out again, “Sister, hello~”
Xu Hong was completely satisfied.
“Hey, good baby, wait here for me a moment, I’ll go get you some tasty treats.”
With that, Xu Hong turned and left the room. Within five minutes, she returned carrying a pile of goodies.
There were little cakes, cream puffs, mochi, and even some homemade potato chips, jerky, cheese sticks she bought, and a bottle of fresh milk.
She placed everything on the table, filling half of it.
Casually picking up a couple of items, she asked An’an, “Good baby, do you want to eat? Sister invites you to eat.”
An’an’s attention was completely captured by the colorful array of snacks Xu Hong brought over, so much so that even Sheepy couldn’t win back her focus.
She looked at the treats, then at Xu Hong, again at the treats, and back at Xu Hong, before finally closing her little mouth and pursing her lips.
“Thank you, sister. Sister’s the best! An’an’s not hungry.”
Xu Hong said, “Oh my, where did such a cute little one come from?”
“It’s okay, good baby, sister has plenty here. These are all yours, eat whatever you want.”
In the end, the little one couldn’t resist the temptation of the snacks and accepted them.
But she also gave away her doll.

“Sister, this is for you~ It’s Sheepy.”
Xu Hong squatted in front of An’an, took the doll she handed over, and smiled broadly, “Such a good baby, thank you so much~ I really like it.”
An’an lowered her head a little, hands behind her back, wiggling her toes, “Hehe, no big deal~”
When Lu Jinqiao returned from the meeting, he found An’an sitting amidst the snack pile, as if buried under it.
Seeing Lu Jinqiao, Xu Hong felt a little guilty. After quietly saying goodbye to An’an, she told Lu Jinqiao and left quickly.
An’an still held a cheese stick in her hand. Upon seeing Lu Jinqiao, she offered him the partially bitten stick, “Bobo, here! Take it!”
“Yummy~”
Lu Jinqiao smiled, picked An’an up, and said, “Thank you, sweetheart. You eat it, Daddy won’t.”
He paused, and when An’an finished eating, he asked again, “Baby, did that auntie just now give you this?”
An’an nodded, “Trade!”
Lu Jinqiao: “Trade? What did you give her in exchange?”
With a cheese stick still in her mouth, her speech was a bit muffled, “An’an’s Sheepy.”
Lu Jinqiao understood immediately—she had traded away her favorite doll.
Thinking it over, Lu Jinqiao praised her, “An’an, very smart, knowing how to trade.”
He was generous with praise for children when they did right. Complimenting was routine; it reinforced their good behavior and boosted their confidence. From Lu Huaiche to Lu Jinqiao himself, he had been showered with praise and rewards since childhood.
So now with An’an, Lu Jinqiao was no less generous with his compliments.
As for the rest, he could privately give Xu Hong a bonus.
This bonus was purely a reward, not meant to cover the cost difference of the doll and snacks. Since Xu Hong genuinely liked An’an, he wouldn’t disregard her goodwill.
The bonus was for occupying her work time and for her accepting An’an’s trade proposal instead of flatly refusing.
Hearing Lu Jinqiao praise her, An’an was very happy.
“Hehehe, An’an is great!”
Lu Jinqiao chuckled, “Yes, yes, An’an is the best.”
Just as Lu Jinqiao was delighting in coaxing the little one, the office door suddenly swung open.
An’an was startled by the sudden noise and shivered.
