Chapter Twenty-Two: Asura
[Page 1/3]
【Pure White Cabaret】
Even the name of this cabaret was suggested by Li Fengyin. In the center of the hall lies a stage, surrounded by patrons seated in booths, enjoying the music and the spectacle of song and dance.
Li Fengyin wanted Shen Liangxin to understand his social circle. He had mentioned some things before, but now, the introductions had truly begun.
"Ah, Brother Fengyin!"
A tall woman in traditional attire, standing a fraction taller than Li Fengyin, leaned in instantly. Li Fengyin looked at her, and flickers of memory surfaced in his mind.
"Zhiwu, your cabaret is even more bustling than before."
These were Li Fengyin's first words. Although Shen Liangxin felt a twinge of jealousy, she masked it with a blank expression—though this, too, was within Li Fengyin's expectations.
Fortunately, he had prepared her in advance. Shen Liangxin’s expression softened, as beside the woman named Zhiwu stood a man in his early thirties, looking like a kind-hearted proprietor.
"This is my husband. Oh, and don't let this out, please. If others found out I have a husband, business at the cabaret would plummet."
Zhiwu explained with a wink, then walked past the thirty-something-year-old Tu Bai with an affected air, returning to the counter to tend to her duties as the manager.
Tu Bai wore glasses and possessed a refined, fair-skinned appearance, much like the strategists of ancient times who plotted from behind the scenes. However, he was not in traditional costume, but rather a Western-style suit.
"Fengyin, what brings you here? Is the music tutoring not going well?"
Tu Bai asked softly, seemingly less than thrilled to see him. It couldn't be helped; Li Fengyin had been pursued by Zhiwu in the past, though they never ended up together.
Shen Liangxin wanted to ask Li Fengyin a "deadly" question, something like, "Who is prettier, me or Miss Zhiwu?" But she thought better of it and held her tongue.
Su Yuxian was visiting such a place for the first time and felt quite flustered. She and Shen Liangxin had such striking presences that they immediately drew inquisitive gazes, which only subsided thanks to Zhiwu intervening.
"I took three days off," Li Fengyin replied. "I've temporarily become a scientific research assistant for the lady beside me."
As he spoke, he gestured toward Shen Liangxin, who was currently observing the atmosphere of the cabaret, looking as if she were worried Li Fengyin might lead her astray.
Tu Bai felt reassured. He found a table, seated the four of them, and had a waitress bring tea, drinks, and sunflower seeds—the standard package here. Naturally, as guests of Li Fengyin, it was on the house.
Hidden in the shadows, the vengeful spirit had not left; it had quietly followed them here.
[Page 2/3]
The environment here felt comfortable to the vengeful spirit. It sought that pendant simply because it was an object that spanned across many worlds.
In truth, only five minor spirits remained alive in the Underworld, and they continued to meticulously carry out the tasks assigned by the King of Hell. Most of the other minor spirits had worked themselves to death, a fact unknown to outsiders.
The vengeful spirit needed the pendant because it was something that did not belong in this world; its appearance signaled impending bloodshed, chaos, and the ruin of mankind!
Yet, it seemed that everything was unavoidable.
Fortunately, the vengeful spirit still had a trump card: two beings born in the mid-twentieth century who were the greatest assets currently assisting the minor spirits in the real world.
Just as the crowd was watching the performance, a man dressed in a yellow military uniform from the mid-twentieth century walked in through the side door. He was expressionless, his body slightly stiff. The student working part-time at the door felt a chill upon seeing him and let him pass silently.
While Li Fengyin and his group were relaxing with drinks and snacks, the man walked straight over to their table and sat down.
Shen Liangxin felt something was wrong. She turned to look behind her; the man in the old yellow uniform was highly suspicious, and he carried a trace of an aura that Shen Liangxin recognized!
"Asura!"
Shen Liangxin blurted out, her voice barely a whisper. When she saw the man turn his head toward her, she was certain of her suspicion!
"Fengyin, Yuxian, Pang Wei! We can't stay here!"
Shen Liangxin stood up, intent on pulling Li Fengyin away from the man nearby!
At that moment, a trace of icy air wafted over. Shen Liangxin instinctively stepped back. A ripple slid through the air, and the metal chair they had been sitting on was instantly sliced in two.
The cut was clean, invisible, and untouchable. The sight was incredibly eerie. The man no longer bothered to hide; he stood up, his right arm transforming into red iron sand, eventually taking the shape of a long blade!
What happened next defied the onlookers' understanding. The figure radiating cold in the air revealed a faint silhouette within the water vapor.
"Hidden Asura!"
Li Fengyin made an instant judgment. A "Hidden Asura" is a type of Asura capable of turning invisible and attacking with Asura iron sand, which is sharp beyond compare!
"Pang Wei, Su Yuxian, you two get out of here! They are here for me!"
Before Su Yuxian could make up her mind, she was already pulled away by Pang Wei, following the crowd scattering in a panic.

"Li Fengyin is no ordinary person. If we stay, we'll just be a burden!"
Pang Wei declared.
At that moment, Shen Liangxin pressed the side of her purple-rimmed glasses. Instantly, a figure’s rough outline was detected by the thermal sensor.
As the crowd dispersed, two Asuras—one visible, one hidden—prepared for battle!
"I'll go for the invisible one," Shen Liangxin decided quickly. "You take the one in the uniform. The police have already been notified; they’ll be here in ten minutes!"
However, Li Fengyin’s eyes underwent a change. He recalled something:
【Acquired Double Pupils】
Through his eyes, even if the opponent was invisible, he could basically see them. The next moment, Li Fengyin kicked a metal chair toward the Hidden Asura!
"You're not listening to me again!"
Shen Liangxin was annoyed, but she switched targets. She grabbed a steel bar, ready to face the opponent's blade!
"Clang!"
A crisp metallic sound rang out as the metal chair was sliced neatly in half in mid-air, leaving Li Fengyin shocked!
Is the Asura blade really that sharp?!
The next second, Li Fengyin kicked out into empty air—or rather, into the space invisible to ordinary people where the Hidden Asura’s waist was.
"Bang!"
Li Fengyin realized that his kick hadn't made the opponent budge an inch. Cold sweat broke out instantly; this thing was not something an ordinary person could contend with!
Before he could even retract his leg, Li Fengyin threw himself backward, watching as a series of traces swept through the air just above his cheek!
