The Nine-Tailed White Fox is also known as the Nine-Lived Divine Fox! This clan is born with nine lives! Each time one dies, it loses a tail. Because the Nine-Tailed clan is so extraordinarily powerful, it has been feared and resented by countless beings, and thus rejected! This has led to the Nine-Tailed clan being hunted down by various races, nearly facing extinction. Now, Bai Ziye is the last bloodline of the Nine-Tailed clan. If she falls, it won’t be long before the Qingqiu Fox Tribe vanishes from this world completely!

Li Yan indeed wishes for Qingqiu to submit to the Demon Race, but he does not want the Fox Tribe to be wiped out! Moreover, the Fox Tribe holds a tremendous secret. Li Yan suspects that only the Fox Emperors throughout the generations have known this secret. This is one of the reasons he has not killed Bai Ziye.

“Wangcai, hang in there. I’m going to get some medicine for you.” Qingyi gently stroked Bai Ziye’s head and hurried off to fetch ointment for the wounds.

Seeing Qingyi run off, Bai Ziye gritted her teeth in pain and said, “Li Yan, if you have the guts, just kill me now!”

“Kill you?” Li Yan shook his head. “No interest.”

Bai Ziye’s voice was low and resolute. “If you don’t kill me now, I will make you pay back tenfold, a hundredfold!”

“Then wait until you have the power to do so,” Li Yan replied dismissively. He didn’t take Bai Ziye’s threats seriously. The Fox Tribe was just a branch of the Demon Race. Even if the Demon Emperor of the Demon Race appeared, he wouldn’t care! Besides, his demon army was already attacking the Demon Race. Soon, the entire Demon Race would bow to him. Whether the Qingqiu Fox Tribe submits or not would be irrelevant.

Right now, his interest in this woman far outweighed any interest in the Demon Race. Before meeting Qingyi, Li Yan thought nothing in this world could capture his attention. The Demon Race had waged war for years; he had witnessed far too much death. Nothing moved him much anymore—until he met her. He was very curious: who exactly was she? She appeared to be an ordinary mortal, yet she radiated an extraordinary aura everywhere. If she was deliberately disguising herself to get close to him, why couldn’t he see through it? And if not, then things were even more interesting...

As for Bai Ziye, she was just an accessory in all this, unlucky enough to be caught in the middle. There were at least ten or eight cities within a thousand miles—why hide in Peach Blossom Town?

Meanwhile, Qingyi had returned with the medicine and carefully applied the ointment to Bai Ziye’s wounds. Seeing Wangcai lying motionless, she whispered soothingly, “Wangcai, once you become brave, no one will ever bully you again!”

Bai Ziye’s body trembled. The ointment felt cool on her sore backside, easing the pain somewhat. Though her pain was physical, her heart ached more. Li Yan’s sealing of her cultivation was like cutting off all her escape routes! Before, she had no chance to flee; now, even the last glimmer of hope was gone! Unless this human could get her out of the city. But without her cultivation, she’d likely be devoured by forest beasts before she got far.

Given her realm and cultivation, breaking Li Yan’s seal would take decades, maybe even centuries! Unless she surpassed Li Yan in power—which was impossible at present. She was nowhere near that level.

“Wangcai, are you mad at me? Wait here, I’ll get you something tasty!” Qingyi said, then ran to her kitchen and came back with two large meaty bones, placing them in front of Bai Ziye. “Here, your favorite!”

Bai Ziye barely lifted her eyelids before turning her head away. Two bones were hardly enough to forgive her! That was what she thought, at least, though her body betrayed her true feelings.

“Gurgle.” Bai Ziye’s stomach protested. The savory smell of meat wafted relentlessly into her nostrils. She told herself it wasn’t her craving it—the aroma had invaded her senses; she was just an innocent victim!

Qingyi, seeing Wangcai still lying there seemingly ignoring her, asked softly, “Wangcai, don’t you like this anymore?”

Bai Ziye lifted her eyelids slightly, thinking, Foolish human, now you realize your mistake? She was deliberately giving her the cold shoulder; otherwise, that beating wouldn’t have been for nothing!

“I think Wangcai prefers vegetarian food!” Qingyi said suddenly.

Bai Ziye’s eyes snapped open, glaring fiercely at Li Yan who was approaching. Please, be a human for once! When had she ever said she liked vegetables?

Qingyi was stunned. “Wangcai likes vegetables?”

Li Yan carried a plate of greens and threw it in front of Bai Ziye. She almost laughed at the absurdity. She might skip a few meals, but she would never yield to Li Yan!

Li Yan grabbed Bai Ziye by the neck and shoved her head into the basin. “Eat all of this!”

Bai Ziye stubbornly raised her head. A warrior may be killed but must not be humiliated!

Li Yan grinned. “If you don’t eat, are you waiting for me to feed you?”

Seeing Li Yan’s eerie smile, Bai Ziye’s throat rolled hard.

“Eat!”

Steeling herself, Bai Ziye began gnawing on the greens in the basin. Li Yan! When I regain my strength, I will make you pay with your demon blood!

Turning her sorrow and anger into determination, she buried her head in the basin and devoured the vegetables ravenously.

Qingyi was shocked. No wonder Wangcai always looked disdainful when she fed her bones. She actually preferred vegetables! That was easy! She had planted plenty of greens in her backyard and could feed Wangcai a variety of them for a long time. But would this make her thinner? Wangcai wasn’t strong to begin with, and if she became thinner, wouldn’t she be even less able to protect herself?

“Wah!” Bai Ziye nearly cried while eating. She was a fox, not a duck! Who liked vegetables?

Li Yan! I swear we are sworn enemies!

“Let her eat slowly here on her own,” Li Yan said with a smile in his eyes. He knew Bai Ziye was cursing him silently—but what could she do? After all, he planned to stay here a while longer. There would be time enough.

Li Yan took Qingyi’s wrist. “You’ve been busy all day; go eat something too.”

Qingyi still worried about Wangcai. “But Wangcai…”

Li Yan smiled. “It’s fine. Look at her appetite.”

Qingyi glanced at Wangcai, who was eating with enthusiasm. Maybe she had been overthinking things.

Feeling relieved, Qingyi was finally able to entrust Wangcai to Little Li.

Bai Ziye, venting her frustration on the vegetables, suddenly felt a chill shoot from her backside to the top of her head. But thinking about how miserable she already was, she refused to believe things could get worse.

Li Yan! I will eat you alive! Eat, eat, eat!

Bai Ziye plunged her head back into the basin, rattling the iron bowl loudly.
